Auto Styling for West University Drivers
West U is tree-lined streets, tight street parking and garages off the alley. The trees drop sap on whatever is parked under them. Alley garages mean tight turns in and out, and bumper corners and mirrors take the brunt of it. Getting to us is Kirby up to US-59 and on toward downtown.
A lot of what we see from West U is luxury family SUVs, plus first cars for new teenage drivers. Those are two different jobs. One is keeping an expensive SUV looking new. The other is keeping a new driver's car legal and protected.
Wraps for family SUVs and first cars
An accent wrap is an easy way to personalize a first car without paint: a black roof from $199 or mirror caps from $80. A full color change in Inozetek vinyl starts at $3,200. On an older first car, we look at the paint before we wrap it. On a family SUV, the film covers the factory paint while it's on and can come off when it's time to sell. PPF for alley turns and tight parking
Alley turns and street parking are hard on the corners of a car. Paint protection film takes scuffs and light scrapes on the bumper and mirrors. For a car that mostly stays inside the loop, partial front coverage from $995 is often enough. Full front, from $1,300, covers the full hood, full fenders, front bumper, side mirrors and headlights. See PPF for West University.
Tint that keeps a first car legal
If the car belongs to a new driver, keep the tint legal. Texas requires the front side windows to let through at least 25% of the light, measured through film and glass together, and a traffic stop is where that gets checked. We meter the glass so the front comes out legal. On a family SUV, the back side windows can go darker for the kids. Carbon film starts at $300 and ceramic at $400. Ceramic coating for street-tree sap
Street trees are the West U paint problem. Sap lands on the car, bakes in the sun and grips the clear coat. A coating keeps it on the surface, so it comes off in a wash instead of needing a clay bar or polish. If sap has already etched the clear coat, we polish it out before the coating goes on. An alley garage keeps the car covered overnight, which helps a coating last. Ceramic starts at $800 and graphene at $850. More on ceramic coating in West University.
