Paint Protection Film (PPF) in West University — Houston, TX

Paint Protection Film for West University Drivers

West U is a short drive from our shop: Kirby up to US-59, then into town. Most West U driving is short, and a lot of it is neighborhood streets and alleys. So the case for paint protection film (PPF) here is less about highway chips and more about tight spaces, tree sap and drivers who are still learning.

A lot of what we see from West U is luxury family SUVs and teenagers' first cars. Garages are often off the alley, with tight turns in and out. That's where mirrors, bumper corners and door edges get scraped, and film on those spots saves a lot of touch-up paint.

What West University does to your paint

Alley garages. Tight turns into an alley garage bring bumper corners and mirrors close to posts, fences and bins. Film takes the light scuffs. It won't stop a real impact, so it's no excuse to cut the corner.

Shade trees. West U's streets are shaded by big trees, and sap drips onto parked cars through the summer. On hot paint it bonds and can etch. On film it wipes off more easily, as long as it doesn't sit.

New drivers. A teenager's first car collects scuffs from curbs, garage doors and the neighbor's mailbox. Partial front puts film on the bumper, where most of those marks land, for less money. It won't make the car dent-proof, but it keeps the bumper paint looking right when the car is handed down or sold.

What it costs

Partial front starts at $995 and covers the full front bumper, part of the hood and fenders, the side mirrors and the headlights. Full front starts at $1,300 and covers the full hood, full fenders, front bumper, side mirrors and headlights. For an SUV that mostly stays in the neighborhood, partial front plus door edges is a sensible setup. If it runs the freeway daily, go full front.

We install Inozetek inoCLEAR as the standard film and inoCLEAR+ as the premium, self-healing film. Package diagrams are on the PPF page, and the PPF cost guide lists ranges. For a teen's car on a budget, is PPF worth it is honest about when to skip it. Send photos through the quote form.

West University FAQ

Is PPF worth it on my teenager's first car?

Partial front often is. At $995 it costs a good deal less than full front and still covers the bumper, where curbs and garage doors leave their marks. It won't prevent dents, and it doesn't replace practice.

Which spots get scraped in an alley garage?

Usually the mirrors, the rear bumper corners and the door edges. Mirrors come with both front packages, and the rear bumper and door edges can be added to either one.

How do I care for the film after install?

Give it about 48 hours before the first wash. After that, hand wash or use a touchless wash, and take sap off as soon as you see it.
