This black Tesla Model 3 came in for the two things that take the most abuse on a Houston highway: the front end and the windshield.
We laid Inozetek inoCLEAR+ paint protection film across the hood, bumper and fenders, then fitted a separate sheet of InoShield windshield protection film over the glass. Both go on wet, both get squeegeed out panel by panel, and both are meant to disappear once they are down.
Finished and back in the bay. Clear film on the front end, and all you see is gloss.
The process
inoCLEAR+ going on the hood wet. Slip solution lets the sheet float so it can be lined up before it is squeegeed down.Positioning the hood sheet. The film is cut bigger than the panel so there is material to finish the edges.Halfway: one side of the hood is squeegeed flat, the other is still floating on slip solution. On to the front fender. More slip solution keeps the film movable while it is matched to the body lines.Working down the side of the car, with our lavender GT-R parked behind it.InoShield windshield film laid over the glass. The whole sheet floats on slip solution before any squeegee work.Squeegeeing from the center out to push the solution to the edges.Working the film across the full width of the windshield.Finishing the edge of the windshield film.
The result
Head-on. The hood and bumper catch most of the road debris, which is why the film starts there. The finished front corner under the shop lights.
