Tesla PPF &
Ceramic Coating

Tesla paint is famously soft — it chips and swirls faster than most, especially on white and black. Paint protection film guards the high-impact front end; a ceramic coating makes the rest glossy and easy to wash. Here's how we protect a Tesla, and what it costs.

The Tesla problem

Why Tesla Paint Needs Protection

It's not just talk — owners consistently report Tesla's factory finish is thinner and softer than average. That plays out in two ways.

1

Chips easily

A thin clear coat means highway rocks star and chip the nose faster — and it shows badly on white and black paint.

2

Swirls fast

Soft paint marks up from ordinary washing. Wash-induced swirls appear quicker than on harder factory finishes.

3

Highway miles

EVs get driven. More miles at speed means more rock strikes on the front end over the life of the car.

Protect it early

The best time is before the first chip — film on flawless factory paint looks invisible and there's nothing to fix underneath. Already have chips or swirls? We correct first, then protect.

Film + coating

The PPF + Ceramic Combo

The two protect different things. Most Tesla owners do both — film on the impact zones, coating over the whole car.

Pricing

What It Costs to Protect a Tesla

Film and coating are quoted by your model and the paint's condition. Here's where the numbers start.

Full-front PPF

From $1,300 — bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors and the headlights. The chip-prone nose, covered.

Ceramic coating

From $800 — a bonded layer over every panel for gloss, UV protection and an easy-clean surface.

The combo

Quoted together — film on the front, coating everywhere. We match it to your Model 3, Y, S or X.

Why per car

Size and paint condition move the price — a Model 3 and a Model X aren't the same job. Get your Tesla's exact quote → or compare ceramic coating cost →

Tesla Protection FAQ

Why do Teslas need paint protection film?+

Tesla paint is known to be soft and thin — it chips and swirls more easily than most, especially on white and black. Teslas also run highway miles, so the nose catches rocks. PPF is a clear, self-healing layer that takes those hits instead of the paint. Full-front starts from $1,300.

PPF or ceramic coating — or both?+

They do different jobs. PPF is a thick film that stops rock chips on the front end; ceramic is a thin bonded layer over the rest for gloss, UV protection and easy washing. The popular combo is full-front PPF plus ceramic everywhere else.

How much to protect a Tesla?+

Full-front PPF starts from $1,300 and ceramic from $800; the combo is quoted together by model and paint condition. A Model 3 and a Model X price differently, and paint needing correction first adds a step. We'll give you a firm number.

Does Tesla paint really chip that easily?+

It's a common owner complaint — the factory finish is thinner and softer than average, so nose chips and wash swirls show up faster. That's why many owners protect the car early, before the first chips appear.

Can you coat a Tesla the dealer already 'protected'?+

Usually the dealer add-on is a light sealant, not real PPF or a bonded ceramic coating. We can assess the paint, correct any swirls, and apply proper protection over a clean surface. Bring it by and we'll tell you honestly what it needs.
