Vehicle Wraps for Clear Lake Drivers
Clear Lake life splits between the NASA corridor and the water. A lot of what we see from here is commuter cars that run NASA Parkway and Bay Area Boulevard every day, plus the trucks and SUVs that pull boats on the weekend. If the commuter car is a lease or will be sold in a few years, a wrap gives it a new color that comes off clean when the time comes.
Plenty of cars here sleep in a garage, while boats and some tow rigs live outside or at a marina. The air coming off Clear Lake and Galveston Bay carries salt and a lot of humidity, and it settles on everything parked outdoors. A garaged commuter car is an easy wrap to keep up. A tow vehicle that lives outside near the water needs washing more often.
What the bay air does to your car
Salt residue. Coastal air leaves a fine film on everything outside. On a wrap, it's harmless if it's washed off regularly. Rinse with fresh water, then hand wash with a pH-neutral soap every week or two.
Launch-day spray. Backing a trailer down a ramp puts bay water on the rear of the tow vehicle. Rinse the tailgate, rear bumper and lower panels with fresh water the same day, and pay attention to the edges.
Humid nights. Heavy humidity and dew keep water sitting on the car overnight. Moisture that stays at a film edge for days is where lifting starts, so dry the edges after a wash and after heavy rain.
What it costs
The starting price for a full color change is $3,200, and accent and partial wraps start at $900. Pickups that tow and big SUVs take more film than a sedan, and specialty finishes cost more than standard gloss or matte. Send photos with the free quote form and we'll usually have real numbers back the same day.
The vehicle wraps page covers finishes and the install. What a car wrap costs explains pricing, and wrap vs paint compares film with a respray. The aftercare guide has the full washing routine.
Getting here from Clear Lake
Take I-45 north toward downtown. It's usually about 30 minutes outside rush hour to 5002 Navigation Blvd. Plan on dropping the car off, since the prep and install take days. The car gets washed and decontaminated, trim comes off so the film can wrap behind the edges, and each edge is heated so it stays down in the humidity. You'll get a firm timeline with your quote.
Clear Lake FAQ
We live near the water. Do we need to wash more often?
A little. For a car parked outside near the bay, a rinse and hand wash every week or two keeps salt from building up at the edges. A garaged car can go longer between washes.
Can you wrap the boat too?
Yes. We wrap hulls, topsides and outboard cowlings, from a simple graphic to the whole boat. Boats are quoted per vessel after an inspection. See boat wraps for the details.
I see tiny bubbles in my new wrap. Is that a problem?
Not in the first few days. Small bubbles or a slight haze are moisture and air working out through the film, and the sun usually clears them. A lifting edge or a corner peeling back is different. Call us if you see that.
