Vehicle Wraps for Memorial Drivers
A lot of what we see from Memorial falls into two groups: luxury SUVs that handle the daily driving, and exotics or weekend cars that mostly stay home. Both make good wrap candidates for different reasons. If the SUV is leased or will be sold in a few years, a color change that comes off clean keeps your options open. The weekend car gets a new look without anyone touching its original paint.
Storage is the good news. Plenty of Memorial cars live in climate-controlled garages, which keeps UV off the film most of the day. The challenges are outside: the tree canopy along Buffalo Bayou and Memorial Drive, sprinklers in the driveway, and heavy rains that leave low spots holding water.
What Memorial does to your car
Canopy fallout. Leaves, sap and bird droppings collect on cars parked under the big trees. Droppings are acidic and can stain vinyl if they bake, so the rule is simple: get to them the same day, and soak before you wipe.
Driveway sprinklers. Irrigation overspray dries into mineral spots, and those spots do more harm to film than to paint. Move the car before the timer runs, or towel it dry afterward.
Standing water. After a big storm, water that sits along the lower edges of the film for days is how lifting starts. Dry the rocker panels and the bottoms of the doors once the rain stops, and avoid driving through standing water when you can.
What it costs
$3,200 gets a full color change started. Accent and partial work, like a gloss black roof, mirror caps or a two-tone, starts at $900. A large SUV uses more film than a coupe, and exotic bodywork with vents and spoilers adds install time. Color-shift and chrome films cost more than standard gloss or matte. Send photos with the free quote form and we'll usually have numbers back to you the same day.
Finishes, coverage and the install process are on the vehicle wraps page. For the price breakdown, see what a car wrap costs. If you're comparing film with a respray on the weekend car, read wrap vs paint. Care after pickup is in our wrap aftercare guide.
Getting here from Memorial
Take I-10 east toward downtown. It's usually about 20 minutes outside rush hour to 5002 Navigation Blvd. A proper wrap is several days of work, so plan on dropping the car off. For a weekend car the time away is easy to absorb. For the daily SUV, you'll get a firm timeline with your quote so you can plan around it.
Memorial FAQ
My car is garaged and barely driven. Is a wrap still worth it?
For a color change, yes, and a garaged car is where vinyl lasts longest. The reason to wrap it is the color: you get a different one and keep the original paint underneath.
Do you take parts off the car?
Yes, where it makes sense. Badges, door handles, mirror caps, light surrounds and some weatherstripping come off so the film tucks behind edges instead of stopping at them. Everything goes back on before we walk around the car with you.
Can I ceramic coat a wrap?
On a gloss wrap, yes. A coating makes washing easier and adds UV resistance. On matte or satin, no, because anything that adds gloss leaves shiny patches you can't undo. Ask about it at handoff.
