Window Tint for Memorial Drivers
A lot of what we see from Memorial is luxury SUVs, exotics and weekend cars, and plenty of them live in climate-controlled garages off Memorial Drive and the streets along Buffalo Bayou. The tall trees shade a lot of driveways too.
If you commute downtown from Memorial, I-10 points you east into the morning sun and west into the evening sun. The weekend car skips the commute, but it still sits outside wherever you park it. Either way, the cabin gets its sun away from home.
What Memorial does to your glass and cabin
Into the sun on I-10. The drive downtown faces the sunrise and the drive home faces the sunset. The windshield has to stay untinted below the AS-1 line, but a legal non-reflective strip across the top takes the edge off a high sun.
Dark glass in back, clear glass up front. Many luxury SUVs come from the factory with dark rear glass and clear front doors. Tinting just the front two windows evens that out. They can't go darker than 25%, so if the factory glass is darker, the fronts won't match it exactly. We'll show you real film on your glass before you decide.
Weekend cars in open lots. A car that only comes out on Saturday still spends hours parked in the sun when it does. Quality film blocks up to 99% of UV, which slows fading and cracking on seats and dash, and ceramic keeps the cabin from turning into an oven while you're away from it.
What it costs
For a sedan, carbon starts at $300, ceramic at $400 and nano ceramic at $550. SUVs, exotics with curved glass and full-windshield film cost more. Send the vehicle through the free quote form and we'll usually reply with an exact number the same day.
The window tint page covers each film and the windshield options. The Houston tint cost guide has pricing, and ceramic tint vs regular tint explains why ceramic earns its price in this heat.
Getting here from Memorial
We're at 5002 Navigation Blvd in EaDo, just east of downtown. From Memorial it's a straight run east on I-10, usually about 20 minutes outside rush hour. Most tint jobs take a few hours, so a morning drop-off is usually ready by the afternoon. You'll get a firm timeline with your quote.
Memorial FAQ
Can I get a medical exemption for darker front windows?
Texas allows darker front side windows and a darker windshield band with a signed statement from a licensed physician or optometrist that darker tint is medically necessary. There's no sticker. The statement is the exemption, so keep it in the glovebox. It never allows tint below the AS-1 line.
Is a windshield strip legal?
Yes, above the AS-1 line or the top 5 inches, whichever is closer to the top. It has to be 25% VLT or lighter, non-reflective, and never red, amber or blue. The Texas tint law page covers the rest.
How long will the car be at the shop?
Most vehicles are done within a few hours, depending on how many windows and how complex the glass is. Curved rear glass and wraparound windows take longer. We'll give you a specific time when you book.
