Window Tint in The Heights — Houston, TX

Window Tint for Houston Heights Drivers

A lot of what we see from the Heights is trucks, SUVs and restored classics. They live in detached garages out back or on narrow historic driveways, often under a big oak.

The big oaks keep a lot of the neighborhood shaded, and that helps a parked car. The sun gets in on the drive instead: I-10, Heights Boulevard, the open lot at work. And if you drive a classic, the rule for the back glass works a little differently than it does on a new car.

What the Heights does to your glass and cabin

Classics with one mirror. Texas lets the rear window go any darkness only when the car has outside mirrors on both sides. If your classic has a mirror on the driver's side only, the rear glass has to stay at 25% or lighter. The back side windows have no darkness limit either way.

Trucks and SUVs. With mirrors on both sides, a truck or SUV can run the standard Texas setup: as dark as you like behind the driver, and 25% or lighter on the front doors, measured through the film and the glass together. Ceramic keeps the heat down without going darker up front.

Driveway days. A detached garage at the back of a narrow lot can be a squeeze, and a car that spends the day in the driveway takes the sun. Ceramic film cuts the infrared heat that builds up in a parked cabin, and good film blocks up to 99% of UV.

What it costs

A sedan starts at $300 in carbon, $400 in ceramic and $550 in nano ceramic. Trucks and SUVs have more glass, so they cost more. Send the year, make and model through the free quote form, and for a classic, add a photo of the glass. We usually reply the same day.

The window tint page explains the films and the install. The window tint cost guide covers what moves the price, and the Texas tint law page has the mirror rule and every other zone.

Getting here from the Heights

We're at 5002 Navigation Blvd in EaDo, just east of downtown. From the Heights it's I-10 into town and a few minutes east, usually about 12 minutes outside rush hour. Most tint jobs take a few hours, so a morning drop-off is usually ready that afternoon. You'll get a firm timeline with your quote.

Heights FAQ

Will tint protect my classic's original interior?

It helps a lot. Quality film blocks up to 99% of UV-A and UV-B, and UV is what fades upholstery, dries out leather and cracks a dash. It won't undo damage that's already there, but it slows what comes next.

Does the film go on the inside or the outside of the glass?

The inside. Oak sap lands on the outside, so wash the glass the way you always have. On the inside, use a soft microfiber and an ammonia-free cleaner, and skip anything abrasive.

Can I roll the windows down on the way home?

No. Keep them up for about three to five days while the adhesive cures. Rolling a window down early can lift an edge before the film has set. A little haze in the first few days is normal and clears on its own.
