Ceramic Coating for Cypress Drivers
Most Cypress commutes run on 290 or the Grand Parkway, and 290 has spent years as a work zone. That leaves concrete dust, grit and road film on everything that drives it. A ceramic coating won't stop a rock from chipping the hood. It keeps that film from baking onto the paint, so a truck that sees 290 every day still washes clean.
A lot of what we see from Cypress is trucks and three-row SUVs, and they carry a lot of paint. More paint means more washing, and washing is where most swirl marks come from. Most of these vehicles park in a two- or three-car garage at night, which helps. A coating goes further on a vehicle that isn't out in the dew and the morning sun every day.
What Cypress does to your paint
Work-zone grit. Cut concrete and gravel dust hang in the air around construction and settle on passing traffic. Wipe it off dry and you drag it across the clear coat. A coated surface is slick enough that most of it rinses away before a mitt ever touches the paint.
Tollway bugs. Grand Parkway speeds put a lot of bugs on the bumper, mirrors and windshield in summer. Bug residue is acidic and etches quickly in the heat. On a coated front end it comes off in a normal wash instead of needing a scrub.
Brake dust. Heavy trucks and SUVs run big wheels and work their brakes harder, and the dust they shed is metallic and sticky. Coating the wheels along with the paint makes them much easier to keep clean.
What it costs
Ceramic coating starts at $800 and graphene starts at $850. Full-size trucks and three-row SUVs land toward the higher end, simply because there's more paint to prep and coat. If rock chips on 290 are the bigger worry, paint protection film starts at $995 for a partial front and $1,300 for a full front, and the coating can go right over the film. Send photos through the quote form and we'll usually reply with numbers the same day.

Getting here from Cypress
The shop is at 5002 Navigation Blvd in EaDo, on the east side of downtown. From Cypress it's usually about 35 minutes outside rush hour via 290. It's a drop-off job. The truck is washed, decontaminated and corrected before the coating goes on, and that takes time. With a drive that long, you'll want to make it just once each way, which is why you'll get a firm timeline with your quote.
Cypress FAQ
Can you coat a lifted truck?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the lift, the wheel and tire size and any aftermarket parts when you ask for a quote, and we'll confirm everything before you book.
Will a coating keep 290 from chipping my paint?
No. A coating is thin and hard, so it can't absorb a rock. That's the job of paint protection film. Plenty of owners put film on the front and a coating over the whole truck, film included.
What's the right way to wash a coated truck?
Gently. Use a pH-neutral soap, a clean mitt and a microfiber towel to dry, and stay out of the brush tunnels. The coating makes each wash faster, so the routine gets shorter.
