Ceramic Coating for Galleria / Uptown Drivers
Uptown traffic is dense, and a car here spends much of its life in parking decks and valet lines. The decks around the Galleria and along Post Oak keep the rain off, but the top level is full sun, and valet means other people handling your car. In between is stop-and-go on 610, Westheimer and San Felipe, which layers road film and brake dust on the paint.
Uptown sends us a lot of luxury leases, exotics and executive fleet cars. They all need to look sharp on short notice, and few of their owners want to spend weekends polishing. A ceramic coating keeps the gloss up and makes the car quick to clean, which covers most of what an Uptown car needs from it.
What Uptown does to your paint
Traffic film. Slow traffic on the West Loop and Westheimer leaves a greasy layer of brake dust and exhaust residue on the paint. In summer heat it bonds to bare clear coat and dulls it. On a coated car it sits on top and washes off.
Top-deck sun. The roof level of a parking deck has no shade at all, and a car can sit there from the first meeting of the day to dinner. UV fades and oxidizes unprotected paint over time. A coating adds a UV-resistant layer between that sun and the clear coat.
More hands on the car. Valet stands, crowded decks and tight spaces mean more contact. A coating won't stop a scrape. It does make fingerprints and smudges come off without grinding grit into the finish.
What it costs
Ceramic coating starts at $800, and graphene starts at $850. The final price depends on the car's size, any trim or wheels you want coated and how much correction the paint needs. Does it make sense to coat a leased car?
It depends on how much of the lease is left and how you care for the car. A coating keeps the paint easier to maintain and looking its best until you hand it back. We'll give you a straight answer based on your timing.
Do you work on exotics?
Yes. Tell us the make and model and anything special about the finish, and we'll explain how we'd approach it before you book.
Will a coating protect against valet scratches?
Only the lightest ones. A coating resists fine marks, but a scrape from a pillar or a careless key goes straight through it. If valet damage is the worry, paint protection film on the edges and bumpers helps more.
